Find solutions to your WP Static HTML Plugin issues by finding some of the FAQ’s on how to solve the most common Plugin issues.
Local Site Installation Issues
Q: Is it possible to export the site so that it becomes possible to use it locally on your computer or on a usb stick. The only thing that I see that needs to be modified is that it will be added index.html to site-links. Some tips how I can make this work.

Encountered Errors or Bugs
Q: I got the message “You are missing the zip extension” Do need to install it on my PC (I use winrar) or on my server…?

Q: I’ve installed your plugin to meet a client’s request, and it works wonderfully! However, there is one item that I can’t seem to resolve: the index page does not seem to contain any data. So, every page exists in the static output except for the home page. Am I doing something wrong?

Q: I have encountered the “missing zip extension” error in your WP Static Site plugin. Is there any easy way to fix (without re-compiling php or so) or circumvent the ZIP archiving? Just dump the plain files?
A: For adding ZIP support, it may not need recompiling per se, but just changing a line of comment, but really depends on your development environment, etc..
iPower Web Installation issues
One user has had issues so far installing on an iPower web hosting shared server.
We’re currently investigating the issue, but have not yet been able to replicate on a different server and are contemplating purchasing an iPower account to find a solution to this issue.
Release history
Please see the official WordPress hosted Changelog here:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/static-html-output-plugin/changelog/
- Basically, version 1.0.1 was not a public release, we found some issues with it not rewriting base URLs missing a trailing slash.
- 1.0.2 added support for a “custom includes” section. We noticed some asset files were only requested via Javascript after page load, so needed a way to “force” include such files to the compressed output.
- 1.0.3 is a must upgrade – fixed a sporadic bug which caused the internal scraping mechanism to endlessly loop and not complete the archival process.
Let us know any feature requests in the appropriate category of this forum and it may make its way into the next version release.
What you’d love to see added to this plugin
We’re already working on the following, but let us know what else you’d like to see:
- Direct upload to WebDAV (MobileMe)
- Direct upload to FTP/sFTP
- Direct upload to SCP/rsync
- Direct upload to CloudFront (skunkworks)
- CDN asset export + URL ReWriting
- Archival stage progress statistics
Comments:
Very nice plugin, just played with it and it works as advertised. I would like to see
- increased speed by only doing delta-updates
- support for themes/plugins: CSS/Javascript referenced files are not copied now
- Automated SCP transfer
